Celebrating 10 Years of Episode Travel with Art
As we celebrate 10 years of activity, one thing we know for sure at Episode Travel with Art: traveling is all about the people we meet. With experience at the heart of travel, personalization is key.
Because we love what we do, and we do it with so much passion, 10 years have gone by in the blink of an eye. Since Episode Travel was created in 2008, we’ve taken part in Portugal’s renewal.
We’ve seen charming new hotels open in the whole country, the creative reinvention of our cuisine with new restaurants and eateries, the urban renovation of our cities and Portugal’s cultural scene bloom with new museums, art fairs and original events.
We are particularly proud of all the good friends we’ve made in these last 10 years. To our clients, with whom we’ve learned so much, and our partners, operating locally and abroad, with whom we’ve shared so many inspiring projects, a big thank you: you are the best travel companions!
10 years later we are still deeply convinced that Portugal’s amazing landscapes, from the lush countryside to the rugged coastline, its unique heritage and lively local culture, provide a one-of-a-kind backdrop to many memorable experiences.
With Episode Travel, you know every trip is designed to meet your unique and personal ideas. A kind of experience that truly resonates with you, brings fulfillment and endures as a fond memory. And yet, we believe that the best is yet to come. Come with us and let’s start another great story!
Dream Winery: The Herdade do Freixo Winery, in Alentejo is one of our favorite secret-spots. Or maybe not-so-secret anymore, since this amazing project, designed by Portuguese architect Frederico Valsassina, was one of the winners of the 2017 edition of the prestigious Archdaily prize. The building, defined by a pure architectural language, appears in the continuity of the landscape, and a Guggenheim-like spiraling staircase takes visitors to the below-the-ground winery. When first-class architecture meets wonderful wines, great things happen!
Botanical Garden: The long-awaited reopening of Lisbon’s Botanical Garden was a big moment for Lisboners and visitors alike. Inaugurated in 1878, the garden, which belongs to the University of Lisbon, had been closed to the public for major works since 2016. Finally, visitors can walk on the refurbished alleys and contemplate botanical beauties brought from all corners of the world. This great collection of plants in a Romantic-style garden has some unmissable highlights, such as the wide diversity of palms, the rare cycads and the myriad of tropical plants. Although still a work in progress, it’s worth the visit and a great way to celebrate the arrival of Spring!
Aldeia de Sistelo: If you’re looking for a secluded atmosphere where time stands still, surrounded by an a amazing landscape then Aldeia de Sistelo, also known as “the Portuguese Tibet” is the place to go. Located in the northern region of Minho, this charming village of only 400 inhabitants is built on terraced slopes at the heart of the Peneda Gerês National Park (a UNESCO biosphere reserve), one of the prettiest, most well-preserved natural sanctuaries in Portugal. An immersive experience to live the traditions of Portuguese local culture and get in touch with nature!
Thank you so much for all your amazing work. Look forward to the next one! “
