Jewish Heritage: The recent discovery of a medieval Synagogue in Elvas and the reopening of the Jewish Museum in Tomar, the oldest synagogue in Portugal, are some of the highlights in the panorama of Jewish Culture in Portugal. The Rede de Judiarias, based in Belmonte, offers an excellent picture of a unique, much valued heritage.
Wild Alentejo: Alentejo is one of the most beautiful regions in Portugal and a perfect destination for anyone looking for a true communion with nature. Birdwatchers will be delighted with the diversity of habitats, from the cork oak forest to the rocky cliffs, home to a variety of species. The Parque Natural do Vale do Guadiana, a protected area in the region of Mértola around the Guadiana river, is wonderful and wild.
